She participates in the annual recertification process, which requires ongoing continuing education. Sharyl's additional educational background in comprised of three
years of undergraduate study at Iowa State University.

Sharyl and her husband, John, reside in Pittsfield with two large breed dogs, "Sam" and "Sasha". "Sam" is a 55 pound gray, wiry, silly, 7 year old terrier mix dog who runs at the speed of light and leaps through the air like a gazelle! He is as carefree as the wind and happy as the day is long-his expressions truly take on the appearance of laughter! "Sasha", their 86 pound, 8 year old German Shepherd Dog , is the family worrier. She believes it is her job to herd the grandchildren and "Sam", and to be the last one through the door once all are rounded up. She takes her work quite seriously!!The highlight of her day is her tennis ball, which always remains near and dear! Sharyl and John rescued "Sam" from the Berkshire Humane Society at age 1.5 years, and adopted "Sasha" from another family at 3.5 years old. The dogs are fast friends, the very best of buddies.
