Dr Elizabeth Tullett
Allen Heights Veterinary Hospital's co-owner and primary veterinarian, Dr. Elizabeth Tullett, has been working in the animal health care field since 1986. Elizabeth earned an associate degree in Veterinary Technology in 1988 and worked as a technician from 1986 to 1993. Dr. Tullett was awarded the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Her special interest while in vet school was in birds, specifically raptor medicine and surgery. She was the MSU Wildlife Rehabilitation Ward Coordinator while in vet school and was awarded the Zoo & Wildlife Award in 1997. After graduation Elizabeth relocated to Springfield Massachusetts to complete a 13 month internship at Boston Road Animal Hospital. She fell in love with western Massachusetts and decided to stay here, accepting a position with the Boston Road Animal Hospital group of satellite clinics. Dr. Tullett was an associate veterinarian at South Hadley Veterinary Clinic since 1998. From 2003 til May 2007 she was South Hadley Vet's managing veterinarian. In June 2007 she and her husband purchased Allen Heights Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. T's professional interests include general wellness/preventative medicine & surgery, some exotic and small mammal medicine and acupuncture/acupressure. Dr. Tullett graduated from the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course through the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is fully certified to practice acupuncture on small animals and birds.
In 2003, Elizabeth spent a week volunteering with the Samana Project, a group of veterinarians offering veterinary services to people in the Dominican Republic. She has also volunteered for the feral cat spay day program through the Dakin shelter.
During her free time Dr. Tullett enjoys traveling, knitting, hiking (with her dogs) and yoga. Dr. T has a dedicated yoga practice,she is 500 hour certified yoga teacher and teaches a yoga class weekly. She is also a certified level 2 Reiki practitioner.
Her pets include Padme a short, brown mixed-breed, Trixie a chihuahua, a corn snake named Maize, and a cat Remy. Sadly Lilly, or "Bean", passed on this year. Bean was Dr. T's constant companion over the last 10 years. She went to work at the clinic every day. Lilly 's job at the vet clinic was the 'meet and greet committee' . She also patiently volunteered to her time and body to assist her mom teach people how to give insulin injections and express anal glands. Lilly travelled all over and enjoyed a great dog life of hiking the hills of Western Mass and New Hampshire with her mom. Her presence and sentience will be missed greatly.
